The Surgeon
Dr. Vrabec is qualified by the Royal College of Surgeons, Canada, in both general surgery and cardiovascular surgery.
He was trained in general surgery and phlebology in England and vascular surgery in Canada. He also undertook training in endovascular intervention in Italy and Germany.
Dr. Vrabec has a strong association with Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH). Positions he held include Chief of Vascular Surgery for RCH and Fraser Health. He initiated carotid surgery and surgery of the thoracic aorta at Royal Columbian Hospital. He was instrumental in the development of endovascular aortic surgery and peripheral vascular intervention at RCH as well as the development of the endovascular operating suite—the first of its kind in Western Canada.
In his spare time, Dr. Vrabec and his wife, Barbara, enjoy collecting fine art. They are avid cross-country skiers and enjoy hitting the trails with family members
PERSONAL PASSION
Skiing the Globe
Dr. George Vrabec is a Master Worldloppet Racer, having completed races in the prestigious Worldloppet Ski Marathon series, a global circuit of long-distance cross-country ski events spanning Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Completing each course requires exceptional endurance, discipline, and commitment to elite-level Nordic skiing, as the races take place on some of the most challenging marathon courses in the world.
